Five Things I HATE About Doing Lip Blush

As a lip blush artist, I have a few complaints. In fact, there are some things about this treatment that really bother me. If you’re thinking about booking a session, you should probably read this first because, honestly, lip blush is kind of a nightmare… for me.

1. My Clients Wake Up Looking Perfect, and They Won’t Stop Telling Me About It

I swear, if one more person tells me how amazing it is to roll out of bed with perfectly tinted lips, I might lose it. No smudging, no lipstick stains, no endless reapplying throughout the day? How dare lip blush make life this easy? Meanwhile, I’m over here putting in all the work to make it happen, and they’re just out there, effortlessly glowing.

2. People No Longer “Need” Their Massive Lipstick Collections

I used to love hearing clients talk about their 20+ lipstick shades and their endless search for the perfect nude. Now? They just laugh and say, “I barely wear lipstick anymore!” Great. Love that for them. Meanwhile, their lip products are collecting dust, and I have to accept that I’ve made their beauty routine too simple.

3. They Get Too Many Compliments, and They Expect Me to Act Surprised

“Oh my gosh, everyone keeps asking what lipstick I’m wearing!” Yes. I know. That’s kind of the point. Lip blush is designed to look effortlessly natural, so when people say, “It just looks like your lips but better,” I smile and nod… but deep down, I’m screaming, I TOLD YOU SO.

4. The Results Last So Long, They Don’t Even Need Me Right Away

Most beauty treatments require constant upkeep, but lip blush? Nope. My clients walk out with beautiful, healed lips, and then they just… go about their lives. For months. Some as long as 3 years. I miss them! Why did I give them something so low maintenance?

5. It’s Ruining Their Expectations for Other Makeup

Now that their lips always look flawless, I hear things like, “I just wish my eyeliner stayed as well as my lip blush,” or “Why can’t my foundation be this long-lasting?” I don’t know, guys—I just work my magic. But now, every other makeup product in their routine just isn’t living up to the standard I’ve set.

So yeah, lip blush is a problem. If you hate looking naturally gorgeous with zero effort, despise getting endless compliments, and can’t stand waking up with perfect lips every day… then do yourself a favor and don’t book an appointment.

(But if all of that sounds amazing… well, you know where to find me.)
